Asked Questions about House Soccer
Q.
When does the season start and end?
A.
The first season game is during the first week of September, and the last games will be in early to mid November.
Q.
How do I know if my child is registered?
A.
During
our registration events you will be given a receipt after you have correctly and completely gone through the registration
process. This will be your proof. Do not lose it!! If you do lose it, you will have to provide us with a front and back copy of
your cancelled check from your bank.
Q.
When can I expect to hear from my coach?
A.
The coaches will not get their rosters with your names and phone numbers until the end of July. If you know you are going to be
unavailable during the beginning to the middle of August, please leave a number where your coach can leave a message for you. If
a coach cannot reach you, he may want to drop you and get a replacement player from the league. If you have not heard from a
coach by August 31, please contact the league office. Please provide your name,
player’s name (spell it for us), age of player, and a number that you can be reached at.

What can I do if my child’s team does not have a coach?
A. Very simple. Volunteer to coach. Please contact the age group manager for your child’s age group. Coaching information can be found on our website: http://northwestoakssoccer.org
How
are house teams formed?
A.
House teams are formed by an arbitrary, non biased pick.
Q.
Can I pick my child’s team or coach?
A.
No. All "teams" are disbanded at the end of the season. As such the make up of the teams can and will change.
Northwest Oaks Youth Soccer Club does not allow house player transfers due to carpool or convenience issues, or for kids
wanting to play with their friends. Most children make friends easily so this really shouldn’t be an issue for them.
Getting players to and from practices and games is a parent and team issue, not the league’s. All written "special
hardship" requests received by May 23, 2002 will be considered. Special
requests for valid reasons will be considered only if a letter or email is sent to the Registrar by May 1 (please do not attach
sticky notes or write on the application). This is SRYSL policy. We do not honor requests for a certain coach as allowing some
house teams to remain intact this way can cause those teams to be stronger than others. In the past we have had coaches who have
tried to build or "stack" a team by having their players request them. Those coaches should be coaching Traveling
House (class 3) – not at House. The House teams are intended to be FUN for everyone.
Q.
What about practices?
A.
Northwest Oaks Youth Soccer Club does not dictate to the coach when, where, or how often to practice. We urge coaches to have
a meeting with the parents so practice and carpooling issues can be discussed.
Q.
What equipment does my child need?
A.
Northwest Oaks Youth Soccer Club provides each House player on Under 14 teams and below with a jersey, a pair of shorts, and a
pair of socks. You will need to provide your player with shin guards
. No one can play at practice or a game without shin guards. Soccer cleats are not required but highly recommended (much safer
on wet or muddy fields), a soccer ball, and a water bottle. You can find these items at many places, as soccer is very popular.
Local retailers to try would be: T and B Sports across from Santa Rosa High School, Big 5 Sports located in the Coddingtown
Shopping Center, Sportsmart in the Cosco Shopping Center, Soccer and Sports in Rohnert Park, or possible Play It Again Sports in
the Toys-R-Us center.

What can I do to help?
A.
Volunteer your time. Become a coach or become a referee, or really punish yourself and work on the Board.

It takes a lot of work to run a club with 1,500 kids and we never seem to have enough help to go around.
